pvusd innovator of the year award

I am proud to have been named 2020 Innovator of the Year by my school and by my school district’s Technology Department.

As if being a new teacher to a new assignment wasn’t difficult enough, we threw in the development of a whole Technology curriculum for 4th and 5th graders, many of whom had socio-emotional needs. With the support of my district’s technology staff and my school’s RSP teacher, we conquered the challenge.

I saw Distance Learning looming in the shadows about a month before it happened. I kept talking about it to anyone who would listen, but they all looked at me like I was the crazy person with two heads. It did feel that way until it didn’t.

Distance Learning brought a whole game-changing element to education and I doubt that the face of education will ever be the same again. Realizing the changes that were needed, I reached into my past for technology and Internet Marketing skills. This much I knew, as teachers, we had to sell the students on Distance Learning. That getting strong lines of communication with the parents was paramount to our success.

Our presence in the lives of our students has changed, and we have had to adapt our pedagogy to meet that change head-on. I started my educational website, Computer-Based Learning, where I will share my tips, tricks, ideas, and educational knowledge with all of you. We’ve only just begun, but what a powerful beginning it has been!
